April 11, 2011
The outdoor track season has been going strong for a couple of weeks. The Wildcats have had a great start to the 2011 campaign. Both the girls and boys squads will look to make their mark at the AAC meet in May. With a nice combination of senior leadership and talented underclassmen, both teams will be among the best in the area this season.
Three invitationals highlighted last week's schedule for the Cats. On Thursday, both teams competed at the Champion Invitational. The boys finished 3rd, while the girls were 4th out of 9 schools. The girls were led by strong performances in the distance events. The 4x800m relay team of Paige Wasko, Amber Affagato, Catlyn Walker and Katelyn Ardale easily outpaced the competition. Their time of 10:25 is one of the top marks in the area. Paige Wasko also added a victory in the 800m run with a personal best time of 2:29.9.
The boys were led by the 4x100m relay team of Jermayne Brooks, Keith Auman Ja'Meire Brown and Tommy Kimbrough. Their time of 45.3 established a new meet record. Temeko Holness added a victory in the 100m dash with a time of 11.7 seconds. Arnaldo Morales also got the win in the high jump with a leap of 6 feet 2 inches.
Complete results for all of this weekend's meets can be found on the Schedule page.
Both teams will compete at Liberty on Tuesday, April 12. The meet starts at 4:30.
